Or should I even be concerned of the limit as long as I can handle it and balance it out with my academics? Next year, I will be president/vice president of five established clubs, founding president of a new club (founded this year), and state president of a science organization focused on research. Do you think the colleges would look at it rather in a negative sense..as in wondering, how in the world one might be able to balance out all of those clubs?! I can actually get to possess more leadership position, although I believe that would overload me to a freaky extent! lol.

I think that if you're able to really accomplish things in each of your positions, then I would say go for it. However, I can say that attempting to accomplish things in each of these positions may get in the way of your school work...

What club are you founding? And why? Are you founding it 'just because?'

Think of what you're actually going to be accomplishing as leader in each of those clubs. Colleges honestly won't care if you're president if that requires little more effort than a regular member. Maybe pick two, other than the one you're founding and the one you're a state leader in, and try to establish those within your school. Always work on bringing things to the next level--organize fundraisers, promote awareness for causes, enter club competitions (like, if you're president of French club, try having a French bake sale and donating the prize to the French unemployed, or have some of your more talented members sit for the National French Exam). Try to be a part of something substantial.

Also, remember that it's okay to recognize your personal limit. If academics at your school are truly challenging, you really can't be a part of that many clubs. And feel free to just be a member if your presidency is negotiable. When I saw "five clubs, plus yaddayaddayadda," I had my doubts about your commitment level. Colleges will, too.

in response to Georgeanna...no, I'm not doing it just to "show off"...I'm very aware of this college game I wouldn't just spend more time in my already hectic senior yr to do sumthing just to show off...in fact, I'm the type of guy, who'd exchange an AP course to make sure I can take courses that truly interests me....after all..I go to a very rigorous school (i know almost everyone either thinks or at least say the same thing here at CC..but my school is listed as top 13 elite schools in the uS by Newsweek)

glassesarechic: um....well, as I already told it'd be pretty hard to be committed to all of 'em...however, my school is residential...so, yes, in this case, I get to have more flexibility in dealing with them. to be frank w/ u all, at least three of my clubs would be REALLY doing a lot (one of them came to local media attention for its work)...while others such as FBLA wudn't do much..that's how sum clubs work...but I'm truly attached to the clubs that I'm leading next yr.....I wudn't definitely wanna be part of sumthing where I won't be able to do more than just sit there and occupy that space..I've plans for all of them..and since due to a surgery I can't be back on varsity sports..I believe these ECs wudn't be that hard to manage..since I'm used to balancing out sports and academics b4 anyway. i'm also concerned if colleges wud doubt of my commitment level...haha..but I'll try to prove my involvement with all of them as bonafide in sum way or another....either thru stating the recognitions or just in essay or sumthing else.

I wasn't trying to say that you were showing off, I was just trying to see the function of one of your clubs. If it is just like an Anime Club or other club devoted to things you do for fun, perhaps you should rethink founding it in order to focus on other service type clubs. Maybe this is a crappy suggestion, hahaha.

haha..thanks for the suggestion...it's not crappy at all. Oh, we already have Anime club by the way...and I'm not into anime at all anyway. I founded a sports club........
