| My real opinion: It's fine for college people to drink, but you 9th graders doing it just look pathetic and sad. You're not cool. You're too young to be cool. |

| This seems like an obvious troll thread to me, I mean come on, who would actually post this:
"Meh, I know you don't have to, but I'm depressed and rebellious by nature so it's really tempting."
If you're serious...well...you're an idiot. That's all I have to say. I agree with the person above me. |

| "So far, the cons of drinking:
- Possibility of addiction
- (Negligible?) health effects
- Other risks (drunk driving, date rape, etc)"
Please, please read an AA handout. The list definitely goes on.
But if you're the type of person who wants to go out and deliberately party and drink and ignore life, then no one is going to be able to stop you, because you won't be able to understand why someone would make the choice to lead a responsible, productive, happy life. |

| Don't drink if you're going to be a ****** and have your life revolve around the next party. You have no idea how annoying some people can get when they use alcohol to pretend that they're cool. Drink if you really want to. Hell, get drunk if you really want to. But for the sake of everyone else around you, KEEP IT TO YOURSELF (unless you have a truly badass story, and by badass I mean other people are talking about it, not you). One of my friends was a loser, but a good one; he was nice to people (especially girls) and was hopeless (just like me). Now he's an ******* who makes sure to bring up in every conversation how much he 'drank' at the last party that he ran his fat ass away from when the cops busted it up, or how badly he wants to go outside and smoke (cigarettes, ***???). He's rude to people (and misogynistic to women) and STILL ABSOLUTELY HOPELESS, except now I don't sympathize with him.
Don't be that person. Your friends will want to punch you in the temple. |

| DISCLAIMER: I did not read the entire thread, but generally addressing the original post
Personally, my idea of coolness and fun does not involve blacking out, not remembering what you did that night, then telling your friends all about it the next day with much pride and a hangover. Also, considering your age, I think you'll find out sooner or later that high school parties where kids just binge because they never see alcohol anytime else just isn't that cool.
Anyway, in my experience, getting drunk simply means that you're stupidly disoriented for that period of time. On the contrary, not that I'm promoting it, but as an alternative, marijuana in strict moderation could be much better. It's a much funner experience than getting drunk, IMHO, and you have to be real dumb to get addicted to it considering nothing in it is chemically addictive and vulnerable people just get mentally addicted to it.
However, if you ask others and yourself (as I did) why someone would want to drink/smoke, you'll find that the most prominent reason is just boredom, and I personally found that there are much better and funner things one could spend their time on other than alcohol and drugs. |

| piccolojunior: Saying "lulz" and "full of fail" in the same post make you look like an idiot. This isn't an insult, just the truth.
iceburns288: Well, if you don't want to listen to him, I go to Princeton which is ranked higher, so you're welcome to listen to me.
(That's a joke, in case anyone takes me seriously.) |

| Um, you pretty much just stated yourself all the reasons not to.
Plus it's just kind of stupid to be a freshman in high school and drink.
It's kind of ridiculously funny and irritating, and just makes you seem more annoying.
In all honesty. |

| I can assure you that trying to attack someone for saying "lulz" on the interwebz is worse. This isn't an insult, just the truth. You know you weren't joking when you said this though, which means you're too serious.

| Please don't listen to most of the people on here. There are pro's and con's to drinking, and you should just decided yourself. Just be aware of the consequences of drinking and PLEASE watch your drink. |

| Okay, just FYI the posts that say "I think freshmen who drink are annoying" do not affect my decision for two reasons:
1) you probably find freshmen annoying anyway, and you probably think they're especially annoying when they talk about drinking to you [who wouldn't?] but if a freshman doesn't talk about it, how could you possibly know? and
2) it's really judgmental and unjustified to think someone's personality is annoying because they spend n amount of time drinking. It's not like all people who drink have the same personality.
Oh, and a third reason: I will no longer be a freshman this summer.
Edit: you can substitute 'annoying' with 'not cool', 'stupid', etc |
