^ or he could not be a ******, take the girl, show her a good time, dance with other girls too (have a good time himself), drop the girl off, and keep his soul.
| I already suggested that. Well, take her to the prom, dance with her a bit, and then dance with whatever girl attracts him. |

| By the way, if you think that dumping your date will have no repercussions because she's too nice to do anything, you're completely wrong. She'll probably a few far less soft-hearted friends, who will then make your life a living hell. |

| lol, no I'm speaking somewhat from experience. I'm a pretty soft-hearted person myself generally but I have friends closer to the other extreme. I would imagine that if someone treated me particularly badly, my friends wouldn't be so nice to that person the next time they see them and might warn other people about what he/she did. What is all those "hot girls" suddenly don't want to go out with you, having found out how you behaved like such a jerk to this other girl (possibly their friend)? I think this was mentioned earlier but the subject was kinda dropped. |

| Hook her up with your best friend!
That's what I did this year...worked out perfectly They're still together too (we had out jr/sr prom like a month ago). She got into a good relationship with a good person, and I got to dance with other people, win win situation.
Just leave to use the restroom, tell your friend to approach her, and then tell her you're going out to dance and then let him offer to dance with her. Make it seem like you hadn't plan the whole thing just to ditch her and she keeps her self esteem intact. |

| Honestly, your motives (shallow or not,) for wanting to take a different date cannot be strong enough to justify "deproming" this girl. Prom is a much bigger deal to girls, and doing that would just be dispicable. I don't care if that girl won't be vengeful, if anything that makes her even more of a good date. She would treat you with some respect even if you did something horrible to her, so you should treat her with the same respect and go with her (and she hasn't even done something to lose your respect!) If your desire to go with a hotter girl overwhelms your own concience, you should probably take a good look at yourself - but first, just put your feelings aside and suck it up and go with this girl. If you turn around and do that someday it will come back and get you, in the form of bad karma or your own self-destroying guilt...for you will have hurt someone very badly. |

| You know, if the OP is really seriously considering such a heartless move, he should go ahead. The girl deserves better. |

| Yeah, I agree with muzicgirl, even if it does seem like it's from a flaky teen movie...being a jerk to this girl can have major repurcussions on your future rep. Even if you're going to another college, it could follow you. Things like that, especially relating to prom, can easily travel around the school aaand next thing you know, every girl thinks you're a ******.
Suck it up, be a man. Does it really matter who you go with?
On second thought, I think diamondbacker has a good point. |

| "If I were the girls father, I'd beat the crap out of you if you backed out of prom with my daughter."
Yes because its obvious that the solution is for the dad to go to jail. |
