yes, mom, im growing up now

my mom asked me what i did yesterday at the library and what i ate, so i told my mom that i went to the subway across the street and ate there.

'OMO! ACROSS THE STREET?"
'yes mom'
'weren't there A LOT of CARS?'
'yes mom'
'weren't you SCARED to cross it?'
'no mom'
'but it's a major intersection'
'yeah, but it wasn't that bad'
'i don't want you to do that next time'
'MOM, im 16!!'
'no, you're still my baby'

urghhhhh, and yet even if i'm her 'baby' im not spoiled as other children are

ugh!!!!!! and now she's wavering on her decision to take me to the library

(srgirl6) isn't it annoying? i'm responsible enough to cross streets!!

my mom also said i was a fat baby when i was little, and now i was getting too thin for being 16, so she decided to put extra butter for me whenever she makes dinner!!

it's one thing being pressured to study honestly, but another to .... do that

My grandparents (both maternal and paternal) are even worse, though. They're always like "You let your 17 year old do WHAT? You let her hang out with people past 8 at night???? WHAT???"

The irony is that next week when my parents take me to visit colleges, they're letting my 12 year old sister and 15 year old brother stay home by themselves.

I smell a massive party with very affluent hosts.

^ hahahahaha, omg tell me how your house turns out after you come back

haha, i have two older siblings, both in college (well, one in grad school), so there's a huge gap between my older siblings and me, but my mom probably likes to feel younger by assuming I'M younger.

Ha. I'm the oldest (out of both my immediate and extended family) so everyone is like freaking out whenever I start to do something remotely grown up (like applying to college...lol).

Our neighbor will be watching the house so closely, though...

Watch he/she live in your house like there was no tommorow! haha

I loved the independence I got when I turned 18.
Then again, it's not as if I was living with a dictator before that so it wasn't much of a change.

Yeah, sorry.

That's partly why my grandparents freak out.
