The only experience I had was a few hours behind the wheel and many hours spent playing Grand Theft Auto.

It was all the experience I needed.

Lol, from the day I got my permit on, I had to drive 2+ hours a day (on count of mum not wanting to drive any more :l )

Ended up having 300+ hours of driving experience...

Required 20 hour class in driver's ed, 6 hours behind the wheel 6 hours observing ***?

written test for permit, 30 hours behind the wheel for tier 2 +road test, then there's a 3rd tier of permits plus after 9's, and then you have to be 18 for your license.

Driver's ed in Michigan is ridiculous. You take segment 1, which is three weeks. Two hour classes four days a week. Most boring thing in the world. Plus six hours of driving. Then you're supposed to do 30 practice hours before you can take segment 2 (you get your permit after segment 1 and successful completion of three tests--one involving drawing road signs, a m/c, and a t/f [which includes a question that reads "Michigan is shaped like a glove." That's false, btw. It's shaped like a mitten]). You take three more two hour classes, and then you can take the road test if you've practiced 50 hours. If you pass, you get your license if you're sixteen.

It's so boring. A lot of people I know wait until they're 18, when all they have to do is take the road test. But an EC? No.

In New York it's easy. Take your permit test, get your permit, take driver's ed, pass a road test, and get your license.

Here, if you take Driver's Ed during the summer or during the school year, you actually get .5 credits for it, so it couldn't really count as an EC. I still haven't bothered to get my permit or license even though I could've 2 years ago. I don't have a car, and I won't be getting one anytime soon, so I don't need it. If I do decide to drive, I might as well wait a few months until I'm 18 since the process is a bit easier.

In Florida, you have to do literally nothing to get your permit and license.

To get your permit, you have to take a 4-hour drug and alcohol course and then take a test, and you have to also take a road rules/road signs test. Both can be taken online, and both are very simple. Those 4 hours were like 15 minutes a day for me since I did it online. Then just go to the DMV, take a picture, and walk out with your permit.

To get your license, you're supposed to have driven about 50 hours, with at least 10 at night. As long as you pass the test (which where I took it, consisted of 3 things: park in a parking spot, back out of that parking spot, and performing a 3-point turn... and the parking spot even had giant poles to indicate where the lines were! If you hit the poles with your bumper, you don't even fail.. they let you try again!) They seemed pretty strict on using turn signals, though. Then just take another picture and walk out with your license.
