HS Life Post Counts

One of the characteristics of a good community is to maintain a consistent philosophy but at the same time let the membership guide at least some of the direction.

Our HS Life forum has been functioning as a de facto Cafe forum. We have periodically moved some of the topics to the CC Cafe, but that hasn't changed the nature of HS Life much.

So, we've decided to not count posts in HS Life toward individual post counts, which are a measure of a member's contributions to the overall community. Posts in the CC Cafe and Parents Cafe likewise don't count. This isn't to discourage use of these forums, but rather to ensure that if a new member encounters a member with hundreds of posts, he/she knows those posts have been on topics relevant to college admissions, search, etc.

It may take a while for this change to become evident. I hope that this is a better solution than trying to "police" the forum for topic relevance and continued moving of topics to the CC Cafe.

Thanks for your understanding.

A reminder that CC's TOS, which states, ""Out of respect for both moderators and policies, discussion of moderator actions and forum policies is welcomed via private message or e-mail; these issues are off-topic for the forums," remains in force for this forum.
