My advice on reading is to skim the passages. Don't read in-depth. The questions on the ACT DO NOT test you on deep comprehension. They're only "surface-level" questions.

A few may ask for more thought. For those questions choose the answer that first pops out at you. It is usually the best one.

GL in October : )

Jesus - this is a NORMAL person. You guys are criticizing him for trying his best, doing better, and being proud of himself? REALLY? So what if you guys thought the reading section was easy - its not the same for everyone... Jumping from a 23 to a 28 is great! Don't worry, you will get into some great schools with that - I think you definately can get that 30!

Good work! The reason why you probably did poorly the first time is because you are very young (10th grader correct?) and most 10th graders simply do not have the academic background to do well (by well I mean 26+) on the ACTs. The ACTs definitely is more of an assessment of what you learn in school and what you know academically vs. the SATs which tests how well you can take the test rather than your actual knowledge. Most people need to complete at least Geometry and Alegebra II/Trig to know or even see all the math material on the ACTs. If you go to a not so good public school, it means it'll take you even longer to get familiar with those topics covered on the ACTs. Clearly, you have improved greatly and have probably learned a lot and seem on the right track to UF!

I'm not the best at reading
how the hell can you not be good at reading. Obviously this post looks very offensive but how can someone not be a strong reader and be the valedictorian.

Are you doing IB? If you get the diploma you're almost guaranteed a spot there.

You're GPA won't mean anything if colleges think the high school you went to wasn't rigorous at all, easy to detect if the valedictorian scores so low on the ACT or other tests.

not trying to be an ass, just amazed

grats on the new scores though. You need to take more AP classes to achieve your goals though.
