Although I'm not going to tell you to get off this site, I hope you guys don't burn out freshmen year, good luck!
And getting into Exeter or any other prep school is no big accomplishment...

| Excuse me? Getting into any prep school, especially into Exeter or any competative prep school, is an accomplishment. What do you mean "no big accomplishment"?
Congrats on getting into Exeter.

what's wrong with you high school ppl? there's no reason to put down these kids for wanting a higher education in order to succeed in life. Who are you to judge them? You guys think caring about school means you have no life? You really need to quit being so narrow-minded.

Is it really that hard to get into prep schools? The people I know at Hotchkiss and Phillips Academy have the same or worse stats than mine. I mean, you're usually going into them from 8th grade, maybe a bit later. It's not very hard to have high A's in middle school and scores that are "impressive" for an 8th grader.
Or maybe I'm just jeal that my mother wouldn't let me go. Except not.

maybe you are. and stats don't guarantee your acceptance. in that case, everyone who applied with straight A's and "impressive scores" would get in, but that's not the case.

| Honestly not. I love, love, love my school and in my own way (b/c I generally dislike pride) I'm really proud that I go to a public school. I mean, who was the Teen Jeopardy Champ last year? That's right, a girl from my not-so-great public school district and very great public school. And there's something I like about proving people's expectations wrong. Their expectations for some URM girl at some Midwestern public school. I don't think I'd like the fact that the racial breakdowns are quite like what you see at colleges and the economic breakdowns are even worse. But that's why I don't want to go to most private schools, even the ones here like the Country Day schools. Maybe I'm jealous of people who go to boarding schools in MD though, because when I'm in Maryland I'm constantly happy. Unless I'm there for funerals. I'm jealous of almost everyone who lives in MD.

well I am going to be a junior. I wish I had started worrying about all this college stuff as an 8th grader.... that way when I got accepted into an IB school... I wouldn't have backed out. Now all I do is school work and I still want more classes and more work so that I can be on top. There is nothing wrong with getting a kick out of your future and doing your best to help it... and my arguement as my friends are perpetually commenting on the "enjoy life" subject... learning /can/ be life. At least for now.

Oh, and welcome to the Internet. Don't take yourself too seriously.
