Organizing a Fundraiser

I am wanting to organize a fund-raiser for the awareness of colon cancer, will the look good for college? Especially if it's a successful one?

No, it won't look good. Because admissions officers will know you didn't do it because you care about colon cancer patients.

Yes, that would demonstrate your leadership skills and your desire towards helping and organizing a good cause. However, make sure you convey your interest in this cause, and why you choose it in your application. Best of luck!

I don't agree with poster#2..I am guessing that you have a personal reason for wanting to raise funds for this cause ?
There are many ways to do it, just be persistant. I have worked with several organizations in terms of fund raising , without support of a group effort, except my children.
You might run into some stumbling blocks, but don't let it slow you down..some of our work wasn't about raising funds, but much needed supplies to various causes.
If you are doing it just for the purpose of looking good on apps, that can be transparent.

If you come across to admissions officers the way you came across in your above post, no, it won't look good to the admissions officers at the relatively few colleges that factor ECs into admissions decisions.
