I Have A Dilemma! Help!

Next year, I'm going to transfer to another school and as a result, I'll have to join various ECs.

Initially I wanted to join astronomy and economics. However, my mother urged me to try for the student council as well. I know that being on SC is a very prestigious thing and many people on CC are in their respective schools (I think?). On the other hand, I'm not the sort that wishes to be in SC but after this semester at school, I think I may be interested in trying for it.

Another thing is that I want to join photography, interact club and badminton. I discovered the joy of photography after purchasing my own camera this year. Interact club seems rather exciting so I want to join it too. Badminton is actually recreational but it might take up so much of my time that it may become an EC itself.

Oh and I'm self-studying many APs.

Do you guys/girls have any idea on how I should make my decision? Or any advice on the clubs?

Thanks!

Really, SC is prestigious? Cause I definitely couldn't care less about it, never did it. Do stuff that you actually want to do. I really don't think they do much else other than organize some school events, but perhaps SC at other schools have more power. I think a lot of people do it to pad their resumes.

IMO anyways.

I don't get why student council is so prestigious either. It's a popularity contest, for pete's sake. We might as well make homecoming king and queen that prestigious as well if that's the direction we're heading in.

Student Council is the stupidest EC of all time...

I mean, they do... What again? The school is run by the administrators, the impact that the "student council" has is so negligible that it may as well not exist.

Student Council is pointless. I did it freshman year, and quite honestly my greatest contribution was tearing down the cheap paper decorations to a dance I didn't even attend. Oh and cleaning up after. Biggest waste of time ever.

You guys really don't do much for STUCO?

I'm in it this year and from what I've experienced we kind of are our school's spirit and image. I'm sure all of your councils plan the dances and such, but we also hold multiple charity events that attract a lot of attention. This year has been rough though, we have too many members (44; we have it as an hour at my school) and we have a clique problem. So next year were revamping the app process.

Really, imo anyone with half a brain, or extremely dumb, and peppy could do it. We organized a couple of fundraisers and dances but not anything that significant. So really not that prestigious at all.

EDIT: Not all cheerleaders are dumb I suppose.

^ ironically, the people who do end up getting on student council often match those characteristics.

Yeah so consensus. Don't do it if you don't want to.

Don't do it even if you want to, lol. The same goes for ECs like YearBook and Journalism....

A whopping 4 papers a year for my school. Then the idiot teacher had the audacity to give me a B+ for the first semester until I complained about it. The editors were complete morons who constantly cut out 75% of my articles for being "too long" or chastised me for using vocabulary like "plethora". All the article were 3-4 paragraphs and pathetic. A second grader could have written them. Oh well, at least I got my performing arts requirement done.
