So...this might be a little bit obsessive....

...but I really need to know. In the high school ranking system, when two people have the same GPA and are tied for, say, #1, does that mean all the people with the next highest GPA are #3? Since there are 2 people for #1? Or are the people with the next highest GPA #2? Does this vary by schools?

I'm reluctant to ask my counselors, simply because it seems a little bit too overtly competitive.
