Local Diploma / Failing One Regents?

so i've failed one regents, which i can't seem to pass. i've taken it twice already, and i'm going to take it once again in june, but it feels like it's impossible for me to pass.
will this prevent me from graduating? or can i get, what i've heard, a local diploma? and would colleges rescind me for doing so?
also, why are people putting in the effort to get an advanced regents diploma if the type of high school diploma doesn't matter in the long run?

if your talking about the NY State regents, by law you need to pass all required regents to graduate from high school. So you MUST pass to go to college. and btw what regents is giving you the problem?

that doesn't mean anything. To get a local diploma you need to pass all regents. They had a rule where you can get a 55 on a test and pass, but that's done away with. A local diploma is your high school diploma. So you need to pass all regents to get a local diploma.

Okay, what do you mean done away with? because i did get a 55+ on it, which means that i can get the local diploma, right? and what do you mean it doesn't mean anything? sorry, i'm just confused with your response.
"So you need to pass all regents to get a local diploma. "
by "pass," you mean with a 55 or higher, right?
