@iluvbooks, I do care. I feel bad for those people too. For healthy people who have no past reactions, yes, they should be vaccinated. I'm not in that category though. If I get vaccinated, there's a good chance I could die from it (since I have a history of a life threatening reaction). It's pretty difficult to get a medical exemption and doctors typically don't give them unless they believe being vaccinated could seriously kill you.

Rachel, are you suggesting that you would have future "reactions" in response to *every* possible vaccination? I would understand if you refused to receive the same vaccination again that might have caused your initial adverse reaction; however, every vaccine is different, so your refusal to receive ANY future vaccination is simply rash. Additionally, prohibiting your future children from vaccination endangers their and their friends' lives, and it's not an action I would advise.

Hm, so next time I go to my doctor I'll tell him I want to get vaccinated against his advice even though it could kill me. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.

I won't be having kids until my late 20s/early 30s (probably). I could change my mind by then.

So your doctor tells you that every vaccination out there is likely to kill you? You might need to find a new doctor.

Like I said earlier, when a doctor gives out a medical exemption, that means they believe receiving vaccines could be dangerous for you. Also, I received a lot of shots that day. It's hard to tell which one caused it.

What about people who are against shots because they are painful or in very extreme cases may kill you (even though that person has no history against them)?

I think that's just stupid. I don't wish for anyone to get a disease, but if it ever happens then you honestly deserve it.

It's kind of like "those" people at the airport who refuse to go through the medal detector because they think they'll get cancer. I'm pretty sure being on the airplane gives you more radiation. You're just an idiot.

I'm kind of surprised this thread hasn't been deleted or locked with all of the debating we've done in the past few days. Happy it hasn't though. I think we should stop though.....

I feel like if they tried to delete a thread with almost 6,500 posts the site would crash or something.

So.

The word "poppycock" intrigues me immensely. It reminds me of balderdash, beautiful flowers and passionate sex at the exact same time. Simultaneously.
