how about UMDNJ (University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey)? is it really good? beacuse i live in NJ and i was wondering if it is better to go to a State Med School or a school like Harvard, Johns Hopkins etc.?

jkh411--totally agree...and why is Washington U in St. Louis not on the list of best pre-med colleges? It has a stellar, nationally acclaimed program...

Okay so does anyone have any good suggestions of top notch colleges I could apply to for Geriatrics? I want to be a Geriatrics doctor but am confused on a college that could lead me there and has the courses i need for that career... please help.

Veronica: You have to get a college degree before you get into med school. (Unless you already have one....)

The number of applicants to med school is meaningless. The accuracy (not to mention the relevance) of data listed for stats to create "tiers" is highly suspect. For example, the average GPA/MCAT average for Baylor for students admitted in 2008 was 3.85 and 34.5.

Does anyone know the top pre med and med programs offered in california i know ucla and stanford and berkeley what else?

I don't think that you are really going to go too wrong with any of the more established UCs. Pomona and other LACs are good too.

In response to your question about top premedical colleges, you could try applying to Washington University in St. Louis, Stanford, Johns Hopkins, Rice, and Duke. These are schools with a big premed culture and extensive advising. However, do note that the programs at these schools are probably quite intense!
