I'm a senior and founded one at the beginning of this year.
Going well so far, We have gone over Med school admissions, HIV/AIDS, stem cells & bioethics. Next week: lumbar puncture and possibly measles.
I'm trying to get a hospital tour going, and a cancer walk is coming up soon around the area.

My friend and I both are interested in becoming doctors, so we're starting a Medical Science Club at our school. We didn't want to start it this year since we just started a new high school, so we want to get accustomed to it first. We definitely are going to do something next year, though, when we're sophomores.

I'm current VP and next year's President of FDA and we are getting involved in starting a national organization. And since there's already a national organization for Future Business Leaders of America, why not physicians. Although I believe the organization should focus on health care professionals and not just physicians.
It would be a 501(c)3 non-for-profit educational association with high school chapters as members. To start it up, chapters would have to send in membership fees. It would also be funded by conference fees, corporate donations, and grants. I think it's a good idea to receive recognition from various organizations like the American Medical Student Association, US Department of Health, American Medical Association, etc. A national conference could bring all chapters together one weekend and there could be idea sharing, medical discussions, guest speakers from various medical schools, and etc.
This idea is still in its early stages and a list of high school chapters to contact would be great! Feel free to e-mail me.

My friend and I got our club approved and we're actually having an organization meeting next Tuesday! I'm so excited! If anyone has or needs any ideas for a club, it'd be great to brainstorm with you all. It would be great to have a national organization and it would be a great way to meet to people and to create more oppurtunities for club members.
Also, I have to say that the abbreviation FDA isn't exactly going to work out that great. My friend and I named our club the "Medical Science Club," which would be "MSC," and that, as far as I know, isn't already the name of a well-known organization.

Okay, the things is my school already has a future physicians of america club. i was going to join it. but the officers SUCK. they have a complete lack of motivation. and they're inconsiderate. I'm not willing to wait until junior year for them to leave. What should I do?

Yes! We have our first meeting tomorrow! It's just going to be an organization meeting to plan for next year. We will be discussing our plans for next year, including possible field trips, club activities (debates, fundraisers, etc.), speakers (we'll ask if anyone has a parent or family member who would be willing to speak to the club), etc. I'm so excited! Does anyone have any other suggestions for making our first meeting a success?
