DS just received an invite for free fly-in etc to Whitman College under a diversity weekend. application appears easy, no essay to write. visits can be in oct or nov. depending on students choice they said something like 100 hs seniors apply or invited and they typically invite 50% of those who apply.

^ I also received that email invite. The app does require two short (<300 word) essays.

Sorry, I wasn't focusing on it enough and just trying to get the info out there. Short answer questions are easier than the larger essay required by Williams.

Does anyone know if the notifications/invites for Emory, Cornell, UNC, Rice, Dartmouth or Pomona have been sent out?

Also, any way of getting a Wash U invite online?

Funny that you would post the Reed program because we were just visiting their campus yesterday. We just happened to have some time to on our hands and were in the neighborhood. It's a very nice campus and everyone we met was extremely friendly and helpful. They were in a period between summer programs and fall semester so campus was pretty quiet. Their dorms all looked really nice, some were very old and the newest were built last year. We visited the library which has a tower where all the sr thesis' are displayed, we found a couple by friends of ours who were Reedies. It may be a bit small and too close to home for my offspring, but definitely a great school with much to offer, and one of the few LACs in a metropolitan area.

Colorado College just sent my DS an invitation to their multicultural open house to be held Nov. 5-7. Again an invitation to pay for travel expenses (1 student and parent) was included as part of application (short essays, transcripts, scores). I forgot to copy the link but if someone can't find it. let me know.

If anyone else gets diversity invites, please post them. Thanks

I've gotten an invite from Hamilton as well (Diversity Days, I think). PM me if you'd like transcribed details.

I am working on a compendium with links and contact information where possible. I'll link to it here when I finish (going to post in main forum to reach more people).

Keilalexandra,

thank you for your post. It is very helpful. It is nice to see schools making an effort to attract Hispanic students to their schools and on their own dimes.
