Why does it say "are you hispanic" on the common app

i also saw this on the USC application... Why does it ask "are you hispanic" and not any other race. If you look it asks "are you hispanic" then it tells you to fill out what race you are. It's kind of redundant.

They do this because Hispanicity is different from race. You can have White Hispanics, Black Hispanics, Asian Hispanics, etc.

The ones that I think are weird are the ones that have the "Are you Hispanic?" question AND include "Hispanic" as an option on the race question. That seems very redundant to me. If THAT is what the Common App and/or the USC application do, then yes, I agree with you.
