1bie792, my son's friends have really enjoyed taking classes in the ballet/dance program but I can't tell you much more than that. I have seen a really cool video on the HWS website interviewing one of the dance professors and showing some spring performance outside, but I can't seem to find it right now. There's an Art Scholarship, if you're interested.
HWS: Merit-Based Scholarships
If you're trying to compare dance programs at other schools, I'd look at the credentials of the professors, compare HWS classes and performing opportunities, and talk to the career office to understand what recent graduates are doing. It seems to me the dance program is quite strong and well supported, with dance performances being presented frequently. My son took an intro econ course and found it enjoyable, challenging and useful; I will ask if he can provide more specifics about the department. I just looked at the econ department on the website and it looks like the students are taking advantage of some really exciting internships this summer so the opportunities are there.
HMSmom, our son also participated in a pre-orientation backpack. We drove him out there with just his backpacking needs and then came out again when he returned to help him set up his room and attend orientation activities. At the pre-orientation drop-off we couldn't set up his room as the rooms weren't open yet, but you could double-check that to see if the policy has changed. In any case, you would want to be there for the orientation activities, anyway.
teameffort, my son's girlfriend is pre-med. Although she's from a rural area, she was able to secure some hospital experience in high school, so I don't see why that wouldn't be also possible during college. See the following post from this spring and if you have further questions, I'll be happy to get some answers for you:
