| The campus is very pretty, and as someone pointed out, is located on the North end of Seneca Lake. ( one of the Finger Lakes ) The college owns shoreline on the lake, and has a boathouse and docks. I was told their sailing team was very good.
As you travel away from the lake front, you come a large grassy "quad area"
with both classroom buildings and dorms surrounding it, that are part of the Hobart College section of the campus. Continuing away from the lake, you cross a street and come to the library and student union buildings ( the student union was under construction and being expanded.) Beyond these buildings, you continue up a small hill that puts you into the old William Smith College part of the campus, with a mix of very nice newer co-ed dorms and some of the original WS dorms that are still women only, at the top of the hill. The Athletic Facilities are back behind them.
Activities wise, the school likes it's sports teams and most of them are quite good within their respective conference. A lot of the students seem to participate in a sport there. There were a lot of scheduled activities on campus when we visited.
Geneva is a small old industrial town with not a lot to do, but Rochester is an hour or less away. |
