Yea, thanks! And...

RBase07, is Howard your first choice school, if so what's your prospective major, etc? If not, to what other schools did you apply?

It's not my first choice, but Morehouse (ATL) is. I also applied to Harvard, Yale, U Maryland at College Park and U Pittsburgh, and I want to major in either communications or english.

Give me Howard. But it all comes to personal taste and where you think you will flourish the most. Look at the pros and cons of each school. I'm not *too* worried about Howard's surrounding location, but it often times scares others. When I visited the school last year, I felt fine. Hampton on the otherhand is great as well, I just don't think I'd find a lot to do off-campus.

Howard can be downright unsafe at times. When I visited this year, there was a multicar police chase going on just a block away, and the cars cut through campus and stuff. I was kinda on ease, but obviously this doesn't happen ALL the time. But you do have to remember, you're in DOWNTOWN ***DC***. You just have to take that into account.

Ghetto HU???

I attend Howard University and I live on campus. I'll be moving into an apartment in MD in the fall. Campus or the surrounding area is not bad, well at least not unless you're from OC and think that if there are not palm trees and flowers all around you then you're in the ghetto. HU is like 4 blocks from Chinatown/Downtown DC and in an area where it is primarily alone. There is nothing big around school except for a hospital. There are not wild police chases on campus everyday, although there was one two weeks ago. (lol) Nothing has ever happened to me or anyone I know, except for the people who want to show off and drive their luxury BMW or Lexus to school and get it broken into. If you do stupid things (like showing off expensive things and acting like a tourist at night) you MAY get robbed. Hampton is a great school as well, but Howard is the only HBCU ranked in US top 100 and the only in so many areas. I have multiple paid internship offers for this upcoming summer and have friends with job offers as juniors. The college you choose should make YOU happy and that alone is the reason you should choose whichever school it is that you choose to attend.

Good luck to all in the search. It took me a very long time to make a decision and I could not be happier with the one I made.

I got accepted to Howard with a Legacy scholarship. Idk I'm actually gonna go though, I'm leaning towards Spelman, but it all depends on if I get accepted into the honors program. Plus, there are a few other schools I'm waiting to hear from.
