My mom called up today and I found out that I received no aid, because my mom make too much money... my parents are divorced and she makes less than he does So as far as money at most of my schools when it comes to aid I am messed up.

Stupid asses. They tried to tell me I didn't get as much money because my forms weren't there by April 14th when their asses waited to the last minute to tell me I was selected for verification....Bahhh and besides my forms did get there before April 14th because my mother had faxed them over and they said they had got them.

East Coaster – I don’t know if it’s still applicable but the most crucial piece of advice is CALL FINANCIAL AID AND SCHOLARSHIPS!! It cannot be overstated. I received my admission package on Monday and just like you it had no information about scholarships. I was disappointed and then upset. But I called fin aid where the lady told me I was accepted really late. Then I kept calling and eventually spoke to a different lady who took my information and looked into it. Today I got the Founders scholarship. Keep calling, especially if you know you got the SAT score; and this is where boa****l people will do good… apparently you have to flaunt your SAT score and make it known! Explicitly state your SAT score and or GPA if applicable. Fin aid had several numbers but try these specifically; 202 806 2840 or 202 806 2813. The admission staff job is simply to enroll you. They most likely won’t go out of their way to get a scholarship for you. And yes, I guess some scholarships may still be available. Not everybody who got a scholarship went to Howard I guess! So get to calling!! And if you’re an International student even if you get 1600 on the SAT they won’t consider you without the statement of finances so you’ve got to get that, even if you qualify for a full scholarship. Oh and I’ve got to thank Miss P!

Call them. My son received the Legacy after I called to inquire. I think they are awarding scholarships to RD students now.

Definitely call them, I had friends who qualified for the legacy scholarship, but didn't get it, but a simple phone call did the trick.

I applied to Howard. It has been so long and I have not received any reply yet. My stats SAT: Math 680 CR 760. What should I do? I was hopping to get a scholarship there but without any reply I guess I am screwed. Howard was my first choice.

SkyGirl,
Call the office of admissions, they should have something on file regarding your application. Your stats make you eligible for a full ride, call or email Ms. Ballard at hufs@howard.edu, (202) 806-2809 she is the Freshman Scholarship Coordinator. Hopefully it is not to late for you. Howard is a great school and you deserve a great opportunity. Good Luck
