Just saw your post today. I had contacted the admission and the admission people did not seem very receptive. Should I go ahead and contact Ms. Ballard?

Call her. Be polite and very humble. If she can't help you maybe she can direct you to someone who can.
I hope that you kept a copy of your submitted application, it could be useful.
