I just saw the stats of this school, it was 84% black and something like 1% Asian, some intls, but no Caucasians nor Hispanics. Is this because of the politics of the school, or was that only for last year. Is it absolutely impossible to get accepted being white?
I am a student at Howard who would like to address your question/statement. There is a good number of whites at Howard, both students and employees. Many are offered diversity scholarships to offset the cost of attendance. Some come because of the scholarship offers while others come for the programs offered. Howard offers many programs of study that other schools in DC do not. White students are welcomed here just as any other race is. There is a large percentage of internationals who are black in color but not African American. I have no proof of the truth in this but I believe that being white would work favorably upon an applicant to Howard since there are still so few. Every University wants more diversity and whites at HU add to the diversity...
OK, it's strange though that I found statistics saying that the number of whites was 0%, I don't remember the source but it was somewhere at yahoo. I guess they don't always use the correct methodology to get that data
^I saw the same, but when I visited Howard, I saw a lot (well a huge number), but a good handful of whites. I think I saw like one asian?? But I'm sure there are a lot more.
there are more than 19 whites here....the entire lacrosse team is white, well almost and some on football, basketball and almost all sports teams are white..i'm not saying that whites are majority, but there are def. more than 19 total
