Do I stand a chance?

I have already graduated with IB Diploma, and my grades are horrible

Physics HL - 6
Maths HL - 5
ITGS HL - 5
Chemistry SL - 6
English SL - 5
Hindi SL - 5
Extended essay (Physics) - B

Do I still have a shot at schools like Purdue, GaTech, UMich, UIUC for computer science?

I know my grades are way too low. If I score well on the ACT (like 32) can I get in with these grades? What are my chances?

being an I student myself, i know for a fact that those grades aren't horrible. I know a girl who got a full scholarship to Brown with similar grades. Just write awesome essays showing your unique experiences.

I feel purdue is a match and UIUC high match.
you may try for 2 or 3 4year colleges.
Good luck to you

Here are my SAT scores -
CR: 520
Maths: 790
W: 640 (8 in essay)
Total: 1950

Messed up on the reading part. Anyways, what are my chances with the SAT score listed? Are they going to be lineant with my reading thing since I'm not a native English speaker?

Reading scores

Low scores in reading is a little problem.
However 520 is average.
You will get admission in Purdue.

Purdue should be sure shot.

UMich or UIUC (5th in the country for CS) probably not.

You really want to improve those SAT scores and technical IB subject scores to get into an exceptional CS program in the states. It is considered one of the hardest majors.

It's too late to take the SAT agian. But I gave ACT on 8th December, and the scores will be out by 26th. Hoping for 30.
As for the IB tests, I've already graduated and there's nothing I can do right now. I'm in the middle of my gap year. Anyways, I'm also waiting on my SAT subject test scores (Physics math 2 chemistry). If I get nice scores on those, will they make up for my bad IB grades?

Also, what are my chances at Georgia tech?

Well, you do have a shot. No harm in trying. Moreover, since you havet aken IB, I don't really think you have an option!

Short answer - yes.

Longer answer - as mentioned in the other posts, a lot will depend on your essays. The schools you mentioned are very good choices - and I know from first hand experience that folks with similar scores have gotten in and done quite well. That being said, each applicant's situation is unique and looked at individually - so, make sure your have a cohesive story to tell and a good overall package.

Good luck! and M-GO BLUE.
