IU or Purdue

My S is looking at the undergrad business programs at Purdue and Indiana. Which is a better program/what are the differences?

Indiana ranks ahead of Purdue for business in nearly every aspect. Purdue isn't bad at business at all, but IU is better. Only go to Purdue if you're interested in engineering.

Purdue ranks higher in Production Management and Operations Research. Indiana Univ ranks higher in Finance, Marketing, Business Law, (Purdue has no program in this), Entrepreneurship, Sports Management (Purdue has no program in this)and General Management.

They are about equal in Accounting, Business Economics/Economics (both schools offer Econ through their business schools) and Information/Computer Systems.

Purdue is best known for their engineering programs. Indiana is best known for their music, business, and journalism schools.

Kelley over Krannert. Check rankings for proof. Both college are similiar with regards to the social scene.

yazzz - IU is considered to be one of the top 10 journalism schools in the U.S. according to the rankings I've seen.

Swing and a miss.

IU has hot women, men, is one of the nation's top party schools, and is known to be one of the best college towns in America.

Purdue isn't even close.

It really depends on the field. For business students, IU's career placement office is generally stronger than Purdue. However, if your son is interested in accounting, then there is really no differences since all big accounting firms recruit on both campuses. If your son is interested in investment banking, then IU has a better placement record than Purdue. I will check the placement records of both schools and go from there.

Needless to say that is really freaking my parents out. If I wasn't so type A I think they would be more worried.

Social scene does not only extend to hot women and parties.

Current Student:

Yes LOTS of hot young girls...all seem to be concentrated in the NW (not that many here at EIG )... oh my the nicknames they have gotten. Bad news, fellas, tons of studly young men out there too. Competition is harsh =/.

"Social scene does not only extend to hot women and parties."

........

This is Indiana University, lets be honest, most of the social scene is parties.
