| I'm not in an interest group and I found out today that I got into Teter: Rabb. Does anybody know anything about this residence hall? |

| I liked Teter, good balance of social activities and academic focus. Lots of people who were outside in the quad doing volleyball, tanning, smoking, listening to music, studying. Met some good friends in Teter. |

| Forest has twin towers like Briscoe. People I know who lived there didn't like it. You have to walk far to go anywhere. Forget about walking to any athletic facilities. Boring dorm. I believe it has an academic community in it (Honors Floor or something). |

| Eigenmann's got everything though - large dorm rooms, cool people, bookstore, game lounge. It's a LONG walk to classes though (especially math buildings like Swain West, Rawles, etc.), but you can take the C bus and the 6 bus. I don't know, not the worst dorm but definitely not the best.
I would rank the dorms as the following:
1) Collins
2) Willkie (upperclassmen only)
3) NW Neighborhood (Foster, McNutt, Briscoe)
4) Teter
5) Eigenmann
6) Wright
7) Southeast neighborhood (Read, Forest)
8) Ashton |

| I have a limited opinion on dorms since I've only lived in Foster and Ashton but I think Foster is the best dorm overall. I agree with some of the earlier statements given by A2Wolves6 that Ashton residents are stereotypically unsocial but I did make some excellent friends living in Ashton this year. However, as A2Wolves mentioned, some of the Ashtonians have strange social behavior. One individual on my floor complained that "Ashton wasn't social enough" but not once did I see him approach one of his floormates in search of social activity. In general, he just played video games by himself in his room and complained about how lackluster Ashton's social life was. Any logical person could see that this individual's behavior was very counterproductive to his social life.
As long as you don't get a room that's right next to the door on the ground floor (the most noisy point in any dorm) I don't see a big reason to dispute your housing assignment. I don't know where you got the impression that Forest is far from science buildings - the only dorms that compete with Forest in terms of distance to science buildings are Read (the neigbor of Forest) and Collins. Forest is a GREAT location for science majors - most often you will just take a straight path going east on 3rd street to arrive at many of your lecture halls. |

| Has everyone received their dorm assignments??????- when I check on the link it says "you are not assigned for the 2008-2009 academic year" does this mean they havent got to me yet or should I call-i have my confirmation number from when i submitted the dorm contract, so I know I did it- any ideas?
also iu doesnt have a roomate survey like other schools, right- all I did was fill out the form with my neighborhood request, but there was no personal info like am I messy or do i sleep late or w/e, right? |

| I got Forest east, but it says I have a $25 activity fee. I didn't sign up for an academic community or anything like that, so is this just something everyone gets? |

| Lydia - it looks like the only place you can get a triple is Eigenmann (though I've heard of some people doing it in McNutt...). The Eigenmann triple is less expensive than the Eigenmann double, but more expensive than a double elsewhere. You can look at the RPS cost schedule at the following link to see what I'm talking about : IU-RPS - Costs |
