What are the chances of getting in?

Without going into too much detail, how can I get in?

I did bad in my Freshman/Sophomore years of high school, but I did well Junior year with a yearly GPA of 3.5, but that is definitely not even close to my cumulative GPA. And my first quarter GPA for this year was 3.3.

So basically what I'm asking is if I would have ANY chance to get in with such bad grades from the first 2 years and what could I do to improve on my chances? There have been around 20 people from my family that graduated from there, too if that helps with the admission process.

*This question mainly is asking for the chances of getting into IU.*

What is your cumulative GPA and ACT/SAT scores? Having relatives that attended will help you get in (but will only go so far). If you write a good essay and fill out all the supplemental application stuff, this will make you look better as well.

Without knowing specifically your Class Rank, GPA, rigor of High school schedule, and test scores, no one can give you a realistic opinion. maxellis is correct in that submitting the an essay and optional recommendations might help. The relatives angle--not so much.

If your overall GPA is under 3.0 and test scores are less than 1000, I think you should look at starting somewhere else and transferring to IU after a year or so.
