TOEFL test preparation

For those who had taken TOEFL test, can you give me some tips for the reading sections. The most parts that I missed the Prose Summary section, where it asks you three main ideas of the passage. Thanks!

I don't know what you are talking about, but my suggestion is, go read books. I had 2 days to study for the TOEFL IBT and I got 100+ on it. I assume therefore that my love for novel reading and news (nytimes online) does pay off.

Ehh... if you really have to prepare for TOEFL to get a decent score, you shouldn't be looking at American universities and start practicing English first. Unless of course, you're looking at the mid-low tier schools.

Ok obviously you can't go read a bunch of books now if you are antsy about taking the toefl in the near future. Nor do I think it would help you, because honestly what you know by now from reading\listening\speaking cannot be immensely improved in such a short time (mainly because it doesn't take such a short time to read lots of books and actually absorb toelf related information or skill). While I would suggest you to go ahead and read them books, for they are really something, (and yes of course it improves language but I think that it does so best when language improvement isn't the reason you cracked a book to begin with), I would suggest that only in general and not specifically for toefl studying purposes.

For the toefl: Buy ETS's Official Guide.(ETS Store)

If you already have a preparation book of that sort, I would suggest you just practice the sections you think your performance on them is weaker (Reading as you specified). There are always enough internet sources that can be helpful for such specific information about a certain section. I bet there are plenty sample questions or advice on the reading section. Good luck

Hi You're very welcome.

I Know this site: TOEFL test - information about the exam and links to free practice tests
(TOEFL in general)

and found that: Good Luck TOEFL > TOEFL iBT Skills > Support > Summarizing
(More specifically, regarding your summarizing issue.)

I'm sure with a quick search you can find those and even better sites but it's usually really random so maybe it's still helpful..

And most importantly - Be relaxed when you're taking the test!! Own what you know and don't be afraid to show it (Or even to make mistakes. We all do.)

Again good luck!
