2So basically I just sent my last supporting documents in July 12 and it should have arrived by now. I know i am very late, and in the second and last round of admissions, so there might not be so many spaces left. And i have been checking my application status everyday and it's always "under consideration". And according to their reply to one of my emails, they could take until the end of August to give me an answer. BUT I know that classes start at September 1st, and also that the election of courses is during mid August. So, if they were to notify me late there wouldn't be much time to arrange my necessities. Which only leads me to two hypothesis to the why they haven't reply although my application is complete: 1) they plan to reject me. 2) I'm on the waiting list

SO SUMMING IT UP:
-I was born in Hong Kong but raised and live in Peru. Which i consider an advantage to "increasing my cultural experience and perspective".
-I speak fluently four languages: french, english, cantonese, spanish. With exceptionally good handle of Spanish and English, them being my first languages.
-My high school was a private and british, with a rigorious education system based on the International baccaularette program.
-My high school average grade would be between B and A.
-Cheerleader captain.
-With some working experience and my extracurricular activities include: swimming, tennis, guitar, and some more. But none of those in a professional way, just as hobbies.

CONSIDER:
-I'm in the last round of applicants.
-This year only HKU is taking twice as much freshman.

What are my chances yet? i Haven't heard from them

Hey I'm in the same position. I dont know about you but I have given up on HKU. Even if by some small tiny chance I do get accepted it will be too late. Are you in under consideration for all 3 choices?

I just got rejected by them days ago but i saw it coming anyway it was too obvious due to the timing. I am applying to UBC and some others similars at November this year. How did you go?

I have 2A*s ,7A's and 2 B's in my GCE O levels CIE board (British system).And SAT1 of 2190.Also in my GCE A levels(CIE) I have 3A* 6A's and 1 B.I am a gap year student and a future international undergrad student with a target school of Imperial College,Hong kong University for Beng Mech.Do you think i have a chance of being accepted at above mentioned considering my gap year?Does being a gap year student mean I havea lesser chance of acceptance?

I'm planning to apply to HKU's medical program this year, but I don't have a very impressive SAT score. My best bids are my GPA scores and some achievements... I have been studying in the US for approximately 3 years, and am taking 2 APs and one honors this year, I took honors bio last year. I have been taking biology classes for three years in a role now (integrated science -> Honors Biology -> AP Biology), and am taking a honors chemistry class, along with an AP literacy class this year. My achievements includes being members or organizations such as California Scholarship Foundation, National Honor Society, LA county Science Fair 1st in Plant Biology, a former Red Cross member and chairperson of the aviation club back in my previous school in Hong Kong. I'm very worried and I do hope I would get accepted by this admirable university....

I am sure your odds of getting admitted are pretty high, i lacked participation in clubs or other asociations and I got wait listed I am quite sure. So your odds are pretty good, although you are applying for the medical degree and there might b strong competition there. Good luck anyway! I think i may be applying to the other university in Hong Kong at the end of this year. I don't quite remember it's name but it's pretty known and good too i heard.

Thank you Jessica, and it's a pity they didn't accept you. I really appreciate your encouragement and I wish you all the best in the future. I'm just worried that my SAT scores would be a major problem. Is the college you are planning to apply to named as "HKUST"? I heard it's quite famous for it's MBA program.

yes that one! But as long as I'm aware of HKU doesn't require yoy to send you SAT scores, they are optional. I took them too and my grades weren't so great so i just didn't send them at all. Think about it, why would you spend money to send some scores that would just affect your application in a not-so-nice way. Anyway, good luck! at least that's my advice. If they are not great or above average they don't count.

Thank you Jessica again for your advice, but I thought SAT scores were required and had to be either 1800 or above. I do hope I would have enough "luck" by then....But thanks anyway, and I wish you the best.
