I'm an international student currently completing the IB programme, and aspire to study in the US, Canada, or the UK. However I don't meet the financial requirements to study abroad. So I would like to know what are my chances of getting a scholarship if I obtain the IB dilpoma with 36 to 42 points.

IB isn't that advantageous in the US.

Far more important are your SAT (or ACT) and SATII scores, the grades you received in high school, and any extraordinary ECs: national or international olympiads, high national or international ranking in some sought after sport, etc.

Actually if you go to the International education - The International Baccalaureate offers high quality programmes of education to a worldwide community of schools site and search for scholarships, you will get lists of colleges for different countries. Over 50 US colleges are listed but I am not sure how it would apply to an international student. Definitely looks worthwhile for you to research.

^^ There are only a few well known US schools listed on that link... and most of them are public universities which don't give scholarships to international students.

I had seen that website before, however katliamom is right in the fact that most are public, or not so well known. Im interested in attending mroe popular, higher ranked ones. And that's my problem, I can't really find them.

I'm also aware of the fact that I have to take the SATs in order to be able to apply, however, meanwhile, I want to know my chances of getting in with 36 - 42 ponts in the IB.

You can't find them because IB scores aren't used as a major factor in admissions or scholarship consideration.

so are SATs grades the only ones that have an importance on a scholarship consideration?

Yes: SATs/SAT2 and ACT exams are the official American measure of how you compare, academically, to other students.
