UCLA Admission

Hey everyone,

I'm an international student, and I would like to know if it is hard to be accepted in UCLA, because I'm French and the grade are really not comparable. Do I need to take the SAT ?

And as a junior, how is it ? Do I also need to take the SAT ?

Yes, you will have to the SAT Reasoning Test (or the ACT plus Writing). SAT Subject Tests are recommended too. The TOEFL or IELTS is required if you were not instructed in an English-speaking school. You can find the application instructions here: International Students - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions

A couple of data points you might be interested in. In 2009 (the most recent year available in the UC Stat Finder), the average international admitted student had an unweighted GPA of 3.79 and an average SAT score of 2126 (out of 2400). According to WES' grade conversion guide, French grades from 14-20 should be considered an A. See here: WES Grade Conversion Guide

I'll take back everything I said above. I just read your posting history and it appears that you are currently attending a California community college. You'd be applying to UCLA as a transfer student, probably after the end of your second year. (UCLA requires at least 60 transferable units.) You wouldn't have to take the SATs.

You can see the most recent transfer admission statistics here:
