| hey pracs. i'm being honest - ur ECs are mind blowing and ur giving me heart attack my mentioning my collos choice in ur list. But, Quote:
Athletic Status - list sport and your level: Football - average (called soccer in USA)
Basketball -average
Cricket -average
| sounds funny, ur not even average on those things, lol.
I can't imagine u running yelling, throwing n kicking some balls. I've never seen u doin dat.
Nevermind, Best of luck for Dartmouth. |

| Wow… Some of you are have great grades and ECAs. Anyway this is mine…I hope you guys can help me out with colleges and essays … I haven’t been able to do well in them.
Male, applying for fall 2007.
Gave SAT I in Nov. Screwed the CR section. Considering retake. (1800+ in this one) SAT II not given yet. TOEFL 270 CBT.
Top 5% percent in high school. Class size around 200.
Received the Merit Scholarship in class 12 for getting the highest marks in class 11 for three successive terms. ( mistakenly got 29 in math instead of 92)
Leadership
School vice Captain in class 9.
School Captain in class 10
Student Body President in High School.
ECAs
School
Represented the school in Inter-school Spelling Competition organized by GAA. Lost in the semis. School Quiz team. School basketball team. School cricket team. Have medals for these. First prize in elocution, 1st prize for my project work on the World Environment Day,2nd prize in Talent Shows, Singing Competition, Extempore Speech, etc. When in school participated in Final Round of Nation wide Singing Competition which is organized by Radio Nepal on Bal Diwas each year. I have sung some jingles for some biscuits and Noodles and songs on Children rights. I am not sure if these are worth mentioning.
College
College Quiz team, wasn’t allowed to go beyond top 20 finalist for the college basketball team. Simple reason, a good science student. Nepali mentality. But led the team to the Final in Intra- College Tournaments. Won First prize in Inter- College Speech Competition on HIV- Aids and Drug Abuse. Team effort though. I was on National Television then. College Magazine editor, 2nd prize in Public Speaking. Organized various programs as the President (already mentioned). All of my effort helped me get the Best Student Award on Graduation Day (Best among four hundred odd students)
Others
Haven’t done much. Volunteered in Inter-School Talent Competition organized by the Alumni. Organized donation programs and charity function for Mukti Nepal, a shelter home for orphan and destitute children. Participated in Cycle rallies and work shop on event management and Basic First Aid Training. Will be doing some volunteering in some INGO’s this winter.
Recommendation
Great ones. As everyone else here, my teachers love me too.
Essays and colleges.
This is where I need your help guys. As u have said your Teachers and Friends loved your Essays, I hope your suggestions can help me receive same remarks. I have only been able to sort list some few safeties which I don’t feel like mentioning right now. I don’t think I will be applying to the Big Schools like u guys have. So can u ppl suggest me some good colleges of my reach. Definitely those offering good Financial Aid.
Thanks. |
