| I don't know about visiting students, but a regular student from the US pursuing an undergraduate degree at Cambridge in the academic year 2007-2008 will have to pay
1) University (tuition) fees: 9,054 pounds/year for most arts, humanities and social sciences courses; 11,862 pounds/year for engineering and physical/life sciences courses.
2) College fees: vary depending on college, but generally in the range of 3,200 to 3,750 pounds/year.
3) Miscellaneous living expenses (including room and board at the college): at least 6,750 pounds/year (according to the university's website).
Adding all up, an undergraduate international student may need between 19,554 and 22,362 pounds/year to finance a Cambridge education. At current exchange rates (1 pound = 1.97 US dollars), that would mean between 38,521 and 44,053 US dollars/year. Still cheaper than an Ivy League education, but probably more expensive than attending a state university in the US, with the added disadvantage that internationals are unlikely to get financial aid in the UK. |
