Study aborad chances Oxford Cambridge?

I'm a freshman at UCLA and curious about how hard it is to get into the study abroad program at Oxford or Cambridge. I saw on their site that you can apply as a visiting student for a quarter. What kind of GPA at UCLA would make me competitive?

Also anyone have any idea the cost including living expenses at one of these universities?

I don't know about visiting students, but a regular student from the US pursuing an undergraduate degree at Cambridge in the academic year 2007-2008 will have to pay

1) University (tuition) fees: 9,054 pounds/year for most arts, humanities and social sciences courses; 11,862 pounds/year for engineering and physical/life sciences courses.

2) College fees: vary depending on college, but generally in the range of 3,200 to 3,750 pounds/year.

3) Miscellaneous living expenses (including room and board at the college): at least 6,750 pounds/year (according to the university's website).

Adding all up, an undergraduate international student may need between 19,554 and 22,362 pounds/year to finance a Cambridge education. At current exchange rates (1 pound = 1.97 US dollars), that would mean between 38,521 and 44,053 US dollars/year. Still cheaper than an Ivy League education, but probably more expensive than attending a state university in the US, with the added disadvantage that internationals are unlikely to get financial aid in the UK.

I'm currently paying 40k with no financial aid, so it can't really cost much more than I'm currently paying.

How about GPA wise, what do I need? Anyone have any incite?

Being unable to spell words such as "abroad" and use simple nouns like "insight" properly doesn't suggest you have a very strong chance.

http://dictionary.oed.com/

Incite = To urge or spur on; to stir up, animate, instigate, stimulate. Const. to do something; to or unto some action.

Insight = Knowledge of or skill in (a particular subject or department)

Sorry I didn't go over my post to check for grammatical and spelling errors. I'm glad you have enough time at Oxford that you can spend your time on a message board pointing out someone's typos. Maybe I should rethink applying if Oxford is full of a bunch of pretentious d-bags like yourself.
