| IUB Bremen anyone? hi!
I was wondering if i should apply to IUB....I am almost sure i should get in.
However, I was wondering how good is it??? Compared to US universities, compared to other German Unis...I mean, it doesnt feature anywhere in the Top rankings...Is it really worth applying for engineering..?
If u r at IUB, how has been ur experience in Germany?? |

| Well, after all the decision is yours.....but just to inform you, they have BA degree for engineering or B.Sc.(which is of three yrs..)...
If u want these degrees, then its perfectly fine....but if ur lookin for BE degree (4yrs) then US unis r there for u... |

| For engineering, I would stay in Germany. Again, I am not a German, but Germans really have a great reputation in terms of engineering in the world, esp. in Automation, EE, ...
IUB is a very good school in America, you can also try to apply to their Hutton Honor College and get even better education experience. |

| Their curriculum seems strong, but surprisingly it has little breadth (which i thought it would have since it models the US sytem). |

| I'm currently studying Computer Science at IUB. The curriculum is very strong but very very demanding. The amount of work required is definitely more than a US univ would demand. It is relatively very new, so it doesn't feature in most rankings. However, DAAD has ranked all its program rather well. As far as I remember, last year it did not cost me anything to apply.
And IUB from the coming year would be Jacobs University Bremen. http://www.iu-bremen.de/news/media/pressreleases/10678/

| I am a student here at IUB as well. I'd say its good for sure, but its not supremely good. The living conditions and all are probably as good as any- i hear even better than some US universities, but it still has to do a lot in order to be ranked among the top tier, it is ranked at something like 197 in Technology according to the Times Higher education supplement if i am not recalling incorrectly, which can probably be atttributed to the fact that its a relatively new university- only 6 years old. But if you cant get into the Ivy League, it is a pretty good alternative. However, keep this as a second option, your first preference should be the top ranked universities. |

| The happiness of students is not proportional to the rank of the college they attend. Many people can be perfectly happy in a little university in Europe; they might live the greatest days of their lives there, why not? And they might become great professionals, get famous, do what they like through their lives, get old and die. There's a place for everyone in the world. To be sincere, the vast majority of the people I admire didn't study at an Ivy...top people, top college? Such a simple idea. |
