Australian National University

hey, i was wondering if some australian students (or just anyone who knows about it) could tell me if it is a good idea to study economics at the Australian National University. Is it a prestigious programme? What are the job prospects for graduates? Would I be competitive when applying for a PhD in the US?

Thanks

It is one of the best unis in Australia. You could also check out Melbourne which seems to have the stronger international name.

ANU is great, the staff are incredibly warm, they even take the time to discuss plans with prospective students!

I think it's the top uni in Australia. Sometimes people overlook it though because it's in a less prominent city, while UMelbourne is in Melbourne. I know people who have attended both though and level of teaching is apparently higher at ANU.

Yes, they offer scholarships that cover 100% of tuition for internationals. However, they are extremely competitive.

nauru, level of teaching in Econ or what?
things varies from Dept to Dept.

people in UofMel will claim UofMel is best for undergrad
ANU is best for grad school in research.
if you going for grad school coursework not so great.
their 100% scholarship will not be as competitive compare to those offered in Yale. maybe daeapaf, would like to state what kind of grades or GPA required.
Queensland Uni need like a GPA of 3.8+ for Singapore Diploma holders to get it.
