Another class of 2012 here.

What safety schools can you suggest?

@ajayc: Yes I am applying there. As soon as I fix my resume. I have like dozens of stuff that I always forget to add.
It's so annoying.

Safety schools (assuming that you too are shooting for Ivy caliber) would be..ehm, Northwestern (not sure) or...ah, I DONT KNOW. I suck at the whole "reach, match, safety" thing...sry!!

debate_addict: It doesnt matter how many ECs you have. You can have 10000000s of them but you are going to state only 5 of them on the app. So I think as you have listed you 'main' ECs they are good enough.

boptothetop: Well in order to suggest safety I need to look at your stats. And yeah Northwestern is a really GOOD univ. You CANNOT consider that as a safety unitl and unless you are self funded

If they haven't changed it, there's space for 7 ECs on Commonapp. But since they have so limited space to explain your ECs almost everyone sends a resume. Don't worry about filling all of them.

In the common application yes naidu!! It is. However, since the common application does not allow me to demonstrate many of my qualities, I will also attach my comprehensive CV with the full list.

yes, ajayc is totally right:
you should shoot for a comprehensive list containing AT LEAST (!) 500000 different activities -- although the colleges will always deny, it's likely that people with 100000 ECs are auto-rejects.

No Idea, yet. I think Lafayette would reduce my EFC, but really I am not interested. Waiting for list of waitlist admits from Williams/Amherst/Colby. I am still hopeful about that Otherwise NUS/NTU/Jacobs/Some Indian College.

nop i didnt (as you know )
i'll take the may SAT and will post my stats as soon as i know them...

i'll only give a brief draft of my profile at this stage, but i doesn't tell you much:

-Currently a senior, applying out of a gap year (some travel but mostly military service..)

-Very competitive Swiss high school: 99% (in recent years there was always around 1 student who didn't pass the Matura) graduate with the Swiss Matura (similar to A-Levels, etc.) which allows them to enroll at any university in Switzerland (no admission process for Matura holder) - around 20-25% of an age-group eventually receive their Matura

-we don't have these percentages, nor do we calculate a GPA. what I can say, is, that my grades were ..moderate.. for my freshman, sophomore and junior year. Having said that, there is a huge grade deflation at my school. but still, i could have certainly done better - i just didn't study enough!!
however, i show a steep upward trend and expect to receive stellar Matura grades (I did very well at the Pre-Examinations in Geography and Biology)

-i have some very generic ECs but also some outstanding ones. i know that you're eager to know them, but please understand that -at this stage- I don't want to reveal them -- i can't really tell you why, but I just don't feel comfortable. i'll post them all eventually though!
what i can say you, is, that I've never thought about applying to foreign universities -- consequently I did only what I wanted to do and never cared about how it will look on the app

-i don't have any awards actually, but I'm familiar with 6 languages (German [native], English [proficient], French [fluent], Latin [pretty good] and Russian [basic skills])
Concerning Russian, the course was abolished at my school after 2 years. Ever since, I've been attending Russian classes at Univ. Zurich [i didn't sit any exams nor did I receive credit - in switzerland you can just sit in the class -for the intro courses that is- and listen]

-i teached myself Esperanto

again, sorry that i'm reticent about my stats!

p.s. at this stage International Relations or Econ are my intended majors!
