Dear MCCCLIII:
The Admissions Committee has carefully reviewed your application. Admission to Kenyon was unusually competitive this year as the quality of the international applicants was extraordinary. While we are favorably impressed with your academic achievements and personal qualities and believe that you have the potential to be a successful student at Kenyon, so many strong candidates applied this year that we cannot offer them all admission. Consequently, we would like to offer you a place on the wait list.
Wait list status means that if places in the Class of 2012 remain open after May 1, you will have another opportunity to be considered for admission. Kenyon maintains a selective wait list of approximately 200 students. If your interest in Kenyon is serious, I encourage you to remain on the wait list.
Starting in May, we will assess the possibility of admission from the wait list, and we will continue to do so until the end of June. I cannot state with certainty now the number of places that will be available through wait list admission, but last year we were able to admit a number of those who chose to remain on the wait list. Candidates on the wait list are not ranked at this time.
Please write to Terri Huvler (huvler@kenyon.edu) by May 1 to inform us whether you wish to remain on the wait list. If you would care to provide the Committee with any additional information concerning your interest in Kenyon or the availability of funding for your education, you may state your interest in an e-mail to Ms. Huvler. If there is additional information regarding your school record that would be helpful to the Admissions Committee, please have it forwarded.
I am sorry we cannot give you a final decision at this time. I encourage you to remain on the wait list if you are eager to attend Kenyon. I will be in touch with you in late May.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Delahunty
Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid
