| Holland beating Italy was predictable and infact, predicted by many before the game..... simply because Italy's most influential players in the likes of Totti and Nesta have retired, Captain Cannavaro is injured and the midfield maestros, Pirlo and Gattuso, aren't the same after their World Cup victory in 2006 which was evident in the awful season for AC Milan... And, Buffon, denominated as one of the best, looked rusty.. aging too fast??. But, no doubt Holland was a bit lucky yesterday.... |

| I mean the manner in which Federer and Italy played was surprising. Even if they lost, we expected a much better fight. Our prediction that they'll be tough opponents didnt turn so.
Nadal beating Federer and Holland beating Italy was not unpredictable, but the manner in which they won was. |

| Italy vs Holland
1st goal-> offside by Nistelrooey
2nd goal-> Birthday gift from Italians to Snejider, his birthday was yesterday.
3rd goal-> Another gift from Italians haha
Anyway Italians are always late starters I'm sure they will pickup the pace from next match. I hope Cannavaro will get well soon.

| As far as I know, Cannavaro himself admitted that he is out of the competition on fitness ground. Manas, I appreciate your effortl in bringing humor out of the defeat. I too support Italy, but I have accepted that they messed up with Holand.
The tournament is quite young, and surprises are yet to come. Go Azzuri!

| 1st goal was not offside, Panucci was outside the field and put Van Nistelrooy 'onside'.
I was pretty happy about the bloodbath in Bern yesterday, for there weren't any honking cars with crazy Italians on the street that night =P |

holland played out of their skin(s) that was the case..and luck is a factor..well done holland..
rister_chutophs
u tell me van nistelrooy was not offside because panucci was outside of the field..well i assume u din't watch the game closely.. he was "inactive" or even so if we consider him to be active..where was the FAIRPLAY FACTOR?? a player down..and on goes the game? still well done holland.
BUT ITALIA ARE GOING TO WIN THE EURO CHAMPIONSHIPS that is a fact and no one can disagree...
they simply cant.
ROMANIA holding FRANCE to a draw certainly is helping the case for ITALIAN QUALIFICATION to the next round!
Case 1 "the most likely"
ITALIA to beat ROMANIA
HOLLAND draw FRANCE
table: holland 4pts., italia 3, france 2, romania 1
then..
HOLLAND to draw ROMANIA
holland 5pts, romania 2
the big game: italy vs. france
all italy will have to do is get a draw..but still they will win
CASE 1: final league table
ITALY 6
HOLLAND 5
FRANCE 2
ROMANIA 2
CASE 2:
FRANCE beat holland then then its going to be quite interesting!
ITALY will surely beat ROMANIA..
then then the final game ITALIANS will need to win which they will do..
and romanains will pull out a suprise..
the final league table..
ITALY 6
FRANCE 4
ROMANIA 4
HOLLAND 3
there are other possiblities as well... i mean this was just some of the possiblities..but the way i see it ITALIANS to go through easily..
--------
and most people forget
ITALIANS played well yesterday holland just played amazing...that amazing thing doesnt happen again and again so ITALY's pretty safe..
THEN MARCHING ON TO THE QUARTER FINAL:
ITALY to take on GREECE or SPAIN or SWEDEN or RUSSIA
if Greece: Italy will hammer them 4-0(Toni, Di Natale, Quagliera, De Rossi to score)
if SPAIN: a tight contest but ITALY TO WIN 3-1 (DEL PIERO har-trick)
if SWEDEN: 3-0
if RUSSIA: 2-0
then the semi final:
ITALY to take on FRANCE, HOLLAND, ROMANIA, GREECE, SWEDEN, SPAIN or RUSSIA
predictions:
if FRANCE: 2-0
if HOLLAND: THE BIG REVENGE (14-0) goals to be scored by all the starting 11+the 3 substitutes
if ROMANIA: a tight 1-0
if greece,spain,russia,or greece: look above
THEN THE FINAL:
no matter who the opponent is...the final score will read 3-0 .. for italy!!!
FORZA AZZURRI...
dismiss me off as crazy
but i want to tell u all...
this is just my point of view so no disputes..hopefully others are free to share their point of view as well...
but ITALY to win EURO 2008...for sure...!!!! no doubts, just WAIT and WATCH!! |

| i am a fanatic AZZURI and Francesco Totti fan/supporter but i cannot see them as european champs from yesterdays's performance.
But, still history tells us that italy has the habit of brushing aside any adversity and they play their best football when they need it the most. So, i feel If italy can somehow squeeze to the knockouts i am sure they will win.
Go Italia!!! |
