Fee Waivers!!

How do the fee-waivers for the applications to colleges work for International students? Do we use the fee-waivers of CollegeBoard? Or separate letter from the Principal? What documents are needed?

I don't really know to what College Board fee-waivers you are referring to, however, most internationals use general letters from the Principal. In some cases, he/she might already have your financial situation documented or might ask for parent income/assets.

P.S. Some universities/colleges have their own fee waiver form.

I used various fee waivers. In most cases my counselor wrote a letter for me and explained the situation to the admission officers at colleges. Sometimes they wanted financial proof, and that went alongside the ISFAA.

I also think a letter from the counselor is the best option for internationals, but what if (s)he doesn't speak English? Should it be translated, like recommendations?

for an international student, a letter from a school official (preferably the one who is signing your high school forms - in my case the vice principal since my HS didn't have a counselor) is enough. but be sure to ask each college you're applying to if they require income tax returns/other documents with the letter.

What I did- I wrote a letter, almost the same like college board's except for changing some names like National Asociation or so, then I gave it to my school principal and he singed it. That was all. Since you need a waiver you will need financial aid too- sending fin aid documents along with such proving your income would suffice need of a waiver. Good luck with application

Int'l are not eligible for CB fee waivers. As for application fee waiving, you only have to have your counselor send a letter explaining that paying the app fee would put significant financial burden on your family's current financial situation.

I applied to 11 colleges with fee waivers. LOL

Yeah I applied to a lot with fee waivers. Some schools also give fee waivers to internationals, including Bates and Davidson, if I recall correctly. Some are free if you apply online (who doesn't nowadays?) including Trinity University.
