Intership in the USA for internationals

Hello,

Next year I will be going to the USA to do a Masters degree (It lasts 2 years). I was wondering if the student Visa allows me to take interships during the summer or do I have to get another Visa? Can I take non paid interships without changing my visa?

I think if you have F-1 visa you can do internship under CPT or OPT category.

It is my understanding that international students can work on campus or can do internships or co-ops off campus in the US. The off campus work must count towards your studies, either earning credit or fulfilling a graduation requirement. The University you are planning to attend will have the details on their program and how it does or does not qualify.
