@whysosarcastic

That's a decent IB score. But then again, I joined in September 2010 and admission at HKU/HKUST has been getting more competitive every year. It's best to ask someone who has gotten in to HKU/HKUST this year and ask them what they got for IB.

Perhaps you could find someone to help you at this facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/379487995249/

Oh and also note that HK universities don't really care about TOK/EE. So try getting a high predicted grade without relying on those bonus points.

@starrr

If you are talking about HKUST, results of hall applications will be out in mid-August.

Hey guys, just some quick questions for both HKU and HKUST:
- Is the merit-based scholarship easy to earn for enrolled students? (like, is meeting the GPA requirement easy enough for smart kids?)
- How big is the non-Asian population? (doesn't have to be statistics, just how you feel when you stroll around the campus is enough.)
- Is the campus culture unique? Dorm cultures? (Some examples are Harvard's housing system, MIT's East/West halls, etc.)
- Average courseload for Engineering school? (hours/week preferably)

Thanks in advance guys!

and I have 5 IGCSE scores:
ESL A* with grade 1 in Oral(91)

I got 7.5 in IELTS.
I want to study BEcon&fin BBA(IBGM),etc.
If anyone with me?

Dutch girl wanting to go to HK

Hey guys!

So I've been reading this thread for a while now, first of all- congratulations to everyone starting their studies in Hong Kong right now!

I'm an 18 year old girl from Holland (the Netherlands), Europe and I'm going to apply to HKU, HKUST and CUHK's BBA programmes as soon as the application period starts. Which means starting next week for HKU!

I graduated from a dutch pre-university high school this June. This high school diploma grants me access to any university in Holland, but I really want to go to Hong Kong. The only reallyyy scary thing is the competition, since my grades aren't outstanding..

Does anyone know anything about the number of european students at HK universities? or dutch students in particular?

Looking forward to an active discussion about 2013's student intake here

Question about HKUST. What programming language is computer science major taught using? How are the hands-on experiences and labs? What is the average GPA of CS students there?

^it may be easier to get the answer if you email professors/grad students in the comp sci department. you can often find their email addresses on the department web site.
