Also, I'm from America and planning to apply to HKUST. After HKUST, if I go there, I intend to work for my masters at a top American university. What are the chances of doing so? Just how do American universities view HKUST and an American student who has gone to study there?

^ You might think that's pretty low, but that is the norm in Asian universities. Be ready to get used to low grades (at least compared to America).

US colleges and universities might not aware its grading system. If you attended HKUST and want to enroll US schools for graduate studies, your HKUST GPA could be a strike against you.

Hi guys, I am planning on applying for HKU Law this fall. I am really nervous right now because from what I heard this school is really competitive. What are the general requirements for GPA and SAT scores? I also took 6 APs, but they are all 3s and 4s....

Please give me some advices! thx a lot!

@theasiansadness General Requirements for HKU are a minimum of 80 on iBT, around 2000 on SAT reasoning with at least a 550 on CR. Since you'd be applying for Law school, they'll look for your communication skills so you might need an over 100 iBT score and over 600 CR score on SAT reasoning. As far as GPA is concerned, if you're in top 5% of your class, you need not worry.

@theasiansadness Your SATs look good, I can't really say about the GPA as I'm unfamiliar with the GPA system. They are supposed to evaluate the application holistically so I thing you might get in. Why not contact the admissions office and ask them instead. You cal also ask the international student reps from the universities. All the best for your application.

@Ahtesham Glad to hear we're neighbors :P. Your scores look pretty good. I am from the Indian style CBSE education system, and I'm yet to take my final exams in march 2013, My predicted score is in the range 90-95%. I'm quite uncertain about my admission decision as my grade X score was 88% and also because I have a low speaking score on iBT. I have 105 in iBT(R-29,W-28,L-28,S-20). I am yet to receive my SAT reasoning scores and my SAT subject tests in ML2,Phy & chem are due on november 3rd.
