@thunderboltsid HKUST is definitely more scenic but it's really far away from the city. It'll probably take almost an hour. As for CU it's more convenient because there's a railway station but HKU should be okay as well. But if you're into the party scene, HKU is the closest to LKF, which is where most expats and students go to.
About the diversity, I believe HKU is the most diverse college out of all three. HKU has around 20000 students including grads and undergrads. CUHK has around 14000 and UST has around 11000. To locals, most consider HKU as the best one probably because it's the oldest but IMO, the three are equally good!

Sorry to come on again. I just say my West African Senior School Certificate Examination (W.A.S.S.C.E) result and I got 5A's 3B's and 1C(in English which means credit). What form of scholarship will I be eligible for at HKUST? Will it be full tuition or half tuition. As I mentioned earlier I cant go anywhere without a good scholarship(full tuition). I hope I am not disturbing the thread. Thank you all.

@Ababio No idea, Scholarship decisions are taken after admission decisions. Moreover, if you don't get a "Decent" scholarship, you can rely on education loans to offset your cost of education.

@Whostolemycookie Between CUHK and UST which has more "International" students not considering the mainland students, et cetera.

@Ababio I am a little worried about your C in English. HK universities really value a student's english proficiency. You need to take the SAT, TOFEL or some other tests to prove that you are fluent.

How do HKU, UST & CUHK compare to each other when it comes to international (non-local, non-mainland) student diversity and populace.

@thunderboltsid well I'm not a uni student (I'm just a secondary school student trying to get accepted somewhere too), but I am a native Hong Konger and my mother worked in CUHK for years - from what I can tell, there isn't much of a diversity in CUHK - you have some exchange students here and there, definitely a lot of mainland students, and the majority of locals. Also, there definitely is a rift between international and local HK students in (most?) HK universities. I can understand tho - language, culture, etc. definitely plays a part.
But again, these are just my observations as a kid growing up around CUHK. So. ^.^

I am thinking of applying to HKU under the fast track admissions scheme. From the website, which states that those under fast track will be assessed more on their current academic performance, whereas students applying under the regular round will have to submit their final grades, where their admission may be based on other factors, it sounds like under the early admission scheme one will nearly be given an unconditional offer or at least less consideration is given to the final score. Does anyone have any information on this? Thanks!

I am from India and I am applying for HKU law. I got a 1920 in My Sat. I have decent grades in school. I am active in debating and am ranked among top debaters in my city. I have also won several MUN conferences, including WEMUN China. I have also been the sec-gen of my school mun. I was the president of a social service organization and have done several activities under that banner. I was a part of my school's team which made it to top 4 of 414 schools from across India in a debate competition called Debating Matters.What are my chances for HKU?

@Vengayam HKU law is competitive. Your ECs are good, but SAT is low. As long as you're studying in an Indian pattern educational institution you don't need to take SATs. Most of your application would depend on your SOP, LOR, and academic transcripts.

no, it is not binding. you will be given the offer and around 2 weeks to accept/decline it. if you accept the offer, then you have to pay a deposit.

Hey guys, I'm a Turkish student who already study law in Turkey. I want to apply to HKU's and CUHK's LL.B. Program. My high school gpa was 93.35/100. I'm gonna take toefl next month. But HKU asks for second language. What does it mean? Could it be Turkish? Am I good enough to apply?
