From class of 2013 here!
I saw Spiny Babbler being mentioned somewhere around this forum. I have volunteered there for about a year and seems there's a little mis-information here. Spiny Babbler doesn't require you to work all week-long. Most of the volunteers work only on Saturdays (9 am to 1 pm, sometimes a little longer) and if you have the time you can work Sundays too. They do have summer and spring camps which need to to work all week long but participation in those is voluntary. And its also not for artistic types only. There are singing sessions, movies and several day trips (hiking, hospitals, cultural heritages, rivers and one time this ramshackle settlement area for homeless people). Did i mention fishing? They also had one session with children from orphanage. The children there are from Switzerland and India and Afghanistan and Ireland too. And you're not there to motivate the kids. You probably can't. Just make sure they don't dump their crayons in the pond or take home a stray dog! Its an awesome place! I even used it for my essay on an extra curricular activity in the common app.
Umm... I dunno if all that is relevant anymore. It was discussed quite a few pages ago. Just being loyal to a great place!
