With almost all the RD decisions out by now, I think it's about time we started a thread for the class of 2014 from Nepal. So, let's start posting.

EXACTLY!!
the sooner....the better
and abt advices.. let us answer any particular questions u have.. there are tons of things that come into play...
for a start... register for yr toefl a.s.a.p. ... as soon as u guyz are done with yr exams... start preparing/sit for yr toefl ... i say this from experience... it doesnt need much of a practice... any score above 100 would do...

ALSO..
at this stage there isnt much you can do.... except for may be shape yr college list... u guyz might want to start right away for yr personal essays.. i tried that too... ended up changing what i wrote back in june for like the umpteenth time...
for ones who have yr exams coming up... i'd say concentrate completely on it... GPA isn't everything ... i agree... but it most certainly is the crucial one!!
as soon as yr done with that... build yr CV... earn some impressive ECAs ... BUT dont indulge yrself in everything u can possibly find... keep yr ECAs focused on what you'd like to do later with yr career... or atleast close to what major you'll be applying for...
all the best guys... we'll be ryt around the corner if you need us..
cheers!!

yeah and about your SAT's. SAT 2 are not so important unless your applying for the ivies or equivalent universities. Regarding SAT 1, please don't let it be your weak point. The CR section is where most Nepalese students lack behind. If you start working from the day you finish your finals I m sure you wont have much of a problem with CR. If you get score above 2150 that's great but make sure your score is not below 2050 if your applying for full aid in a highly reputed college or universities.

Do start working from the day your finals end. Your application should be strong as a whole.

la guys best of luck. and some things i would like to contradict from the above posts:
1. DON'T give toefl asap. you can save a few thousand rupees by not giving toefl. remember, toefl is just a test of english proficiency and can be waived under certain conditions:-
- some colleges will waive it if you simply say that your language of instruction at high school is english.
- some colleges will waive toefl if your SAT CR is above a certain score (for eg.450 for RPI, 600 for grinnell). so its better to give SAT before toefl.
- some colleges will waive if you have studied A-levels and have a good score in GP (eg. Jacobs University waives toefl for those who have 'c' or higher in GP)
2. SAT2s are very very important - take my word for it, i learned it the hard way. and try to give your SAT2s around the time of your final exams/trials/pre-trials. this way you wont have to study for the SAT2s seperately.

@grambling and others
(in reference to grambling's post)
we aren't talking about SOME colleges...
so to contradict to THAT...

1)trust me guys... TOEFL = a.s.a.p.... just get it out of your way... dont let 12000 rupees be what differentiates you from any other applicant!!... the repetitive emails to the ad.comm. begging them to waive the toefl requirement is worth the 12k.. i agree... but i have seen cases where ppl had to withdraw the application entirely or had to leave it incomplete just because the ad.comm did not waive the toefl requirement!!
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY!! god forbid but it might just happen that some of you might score a little low on yr SAT1... in that case u'd be looking for colleges that ARE GOOD but don't consider yr sat scores... and in that case.. yr TOEFL score might just save the day!!.. grambling you've got good SAT scores i agree.. but all of us aren't as lucky y'know!!

2) SAT2 is required for how many?? 10-20 institutions that offer int'l aid... SAT1 is what counts most when it comes to aid or admissions... to add to that.. a guy from bnks.. on his way to WILLIAMS waived his SAT2 too...however if yr up for some top notch colleges or have yr bull's eye set around the ivies then you SHOULD have yr SAT2 on the list!!
i have to agree to one thing grambling said though... if you're sitting for yr sat2... then make sure you take 'em this june...

in response to dallo306:
1. all 28 colleges i applied to waived my toefl requirement and i had to email to only 2 or 3 of them. the only college that said it wouldn't waive the toefl requirement was 'loras' so i didnt apply there. so yeah i guess you should give toefl in order to meet the requirement of the safeties.
2. SAT2 is important for those colleges that require them. if your sat1 is good and sat2 is bad than trust me the colleges will look at it in a very negative way.
dallo306, i know your SAT2 is great, but not all of us are lucky like you.
