Financial aid at state schools

Hi,

I was applying to college this year. Since I need financial aid I was wondering if it makes sense to apply to colleges which don't offer aid.

From what I've heard, even though many colleges like Purdue, UT Austin, GATech etc. say that they don't offer aid they actually do so after freshman year.

I was hoping somebody could tell me the prospects of getting aid at such schools.

Thanks
Saatvik
P.S. - Of course, I am an international student!

Yeah you can apply to Purdue and UT-Austin even though they say don't provide aid to internationals when infact they do. I got a $10,000 merit scholarship from Purdue. You'll need a good SAT score and a excellent class rank. The scholarship will be partial so you'll have to pay the rest. Also after first year, if you maintain a high GPA you can apply for more scholarships from the engineering school.

here is the link for the merit scholarship - http://www.purdue.edu/Admissions/Und...larships.shtml
