So, anyone here know the average salary of a hotel manager at a well respected hotel? like Hilton, hyatt, and of the sorts. Also, what will it take to become a high position manager, how long will it take after graduation from a hotel school?

What are some of the entry level jobs you had to do and how long did it take or does it take on average to become a hotel manager?

what is the outlook on salary? is it fun? difficult?

Sorry to bring this old thread back to life, but in case others are wondering, a general manager of a reputable large hotel (200+ rooms, say a Hilton or Hyatt) easily makes $150k and up. There are lots of other benfits including free meals, hotel trips, conferences, etc.

However, it takes many years (at least 10+) to get there.

To properly run a hotel, a manager obviously needs experience in all the departments which is why they all start from the bottom and rotate through all departments.
