Summer job help needed

What are some nontraditional places to look for jobs this summer? It's so hard to find a summer job these days because everyone is applying. I am trying to look for places other than the usual retail places like restaurants and stores. Any suggestions on where I might look? I'm 17 by the way.

Maybe look for receptionist or secretarial work in a office?

When you walk in and ask for an application, ask about the procedure. Does the company do immediate interviews? I *am* hiring for summer and I had a girl walk in today, hand me a completed application, and walk out. She *could* have interviewed with the boss (me) on the spot. Now, she's not even going to get an interview.

Be nice to anyone talking with you at the company; they probably have some (if not a LOT) of input on the summer help.

And please -- dress nicely, like you already work at the company. I am so not interested in the short shorts and cami look in a job applicant.

Temp agency; stuff out in the heat that people won't want to do (window washing, lawn mowing, etc); and babysitting can be a great gig if your parents have any friends with younger children that need to be driven around to actitivies and watched
