| lets not be so hard on the OP... I was a little and regret it. You are poking around trying to understand what salaries are / what real / whats not.
The bottom line ( I think ) is that outside of certain very unusal circumstances, anything over $100,000 a year starting is unusual ... On the coasts this would be higher ---but in general ....
And frankly $50,000 a year starting for a college grad is ok ...
my 2 cents!!! |

| I agree with rty456... don't be so hard on the curious kid. But the reality is that, unless you are Michael Jordon, Tiger Woods, or Ronaldhino... you need amazing people skills + amazing luck + amazing talent + SO MANY OTHER THINGS in order to succeed in making 1,000,000 your first year out of college... Best way would be not going to college and creating your own company... somehow.
I would say 50K a year right after college is a GOOD number... 30-40k is more realistic.
My advise is, take your time... enjoy life... ... ... ...
You will eventually become rich if you really really love money... |

| Everyone in this thread thinks they know something about something, which is why they are so eager to bash the OP. He/She may be a tad bit naive, but you reek of condescension-and its unjustified at that. Although it may sound counter intuitive you do not earn a fortune by working a job; you earn it by being creative (see: Sergey Brin). And education is truly a nominal factor, as the majority of the most affluent people in the U.S. do not even hold a bachelor's degree. |

| qwilde -point taken. And I agree with some of your follow up points.
And agree I should be hit with a wet noodle.
I do agree that being 'creative' is the best way to make big bucks... but if you are very creative and run out of money (similar to gamblers ruin) before getting you feet set in your field, you may not ever get to pursue your dream.
I am not sure that your last comment is correct, The Forbes 400 comes to mind, most went to college.... |

| Professional Poker Player? lol...
Seriously though. My friend made over 1 million in one year playing poker (well took a year for a few hundred thousand than in 3 months soared up over 1 million).
Now he has lost over 1 million though... and probably more. He shoulda gotten out or learned some bankroll management. I tried to help him, but he never listened.
It's insane though. Poker can really lead you to riches if you are talented and lucky. |

| You don't have to wait to graduate from college to a million. Why wait 4 painful years? You can just graduate from HS like Kobe and Lebron and make more than 10 million starting. What are you waiting for? Forget college, especially an ivy league one! You can do it! |

| On a serious note, there was a UT college trader on this forum who did exotics/fx trading and made close to half a million before even graduating college.
PM Mahras2 I think he knows who she was.

| In my experience I've met 4 people in the early 20's who have made a million in one year.
One of them plays poker online, one represents a rap artist, one of them is into sports betting and the other has been playing the stock market game.
These guys are some of the smartest I've ever met in my life!! |

| -_-;; This thread is a serious joke. OP should get his head slapped and let's get real here. It's not like your greedy soul will get hired by one of the biggest corporations in the world and get paid over a million dollars in a year. Go become a drug lord or a serious poker player and maybe you can get half of that, if you're really really good at it.
On a more helpful note, you can study math and play poker with probabilities. You can seriously make millions. |
