Hi guys, I'm a compsci undergrad at the University of Kent, in Canterbury. My course is techically four years long-2 years of study, one year-long, full time, preferably paid internship, then a final year of study before I graduate.

My question is this; how good would a technologist position at MS look on my CV? I have an offer but I could always decline if a dedicated software house, or a tech company like IBM, would be better in ensuring my employability if I'm not retained by the company upon graduation...

Basically, there are lots of prestigious tech companies out there, but how prestigious are IB's tech divisions? People at my college fought tooth and nail to get in, but that was for the money, lol, something that isn't of paramount importance.

In terms of the work you will do, it will get boring after a year. Though I would definitely take the summer internship and then do the job full time for at least a year after you graduate. A year at MS will make you a very wanted man at least in banking circles for tech jobs. After that if you feel you are not too satisfied with the job, then you should have no problems making a switch.

Companies are aware of the fact that getting a job/internship at MS is very hard!!
